In today’s competitive world the ability and power to network would make you stand out from the crowd. Networking, therefore helps you to: Gaining an employment advantage or to be better informed to make wise decisions. After my post on tips on effective networking,i  received so many emails on where to begin networking and today, i am sharing with you some great places and avenues to network. In those competitive environment, who you know determines where you go.Stay focused and learn a few tips it would be beneficial to you.

 Why Do You Start?
Learning about possible opportunities: Keep in mind that there are several employers that simply
recruit by "word of mouth". Many jobs get filled by referral only and are never posted to the general public. In addition many businesses provide incentives to their employees forsatisfactory applicant referrals. All you have to do is to communicate your interest (as simple as that). So you need to be informed, keep asking questions and be open minded.
Get opportunities to offer help to others and vice versa:  When you have the chance to help someone in a work, grab it. Offer you time to help big men in the society get things done easily. If you have a skills that would help solve their needs offer to help them with it. Never let this opportunity pass you by.Sell yourself.

Where Do You Network?
Churches – Make every effort to speak to the members of your religious group and youth ministries. Participate in activities that you may find appealing,eg.Talk on relationship, carrier choice etc. You could potentially aide your community as you market yourself
Temporary employment agencies -- if unable to secure a permanent full-time position, temporary agencies are wonderful places to introduce yourself to a variety of employers within your industry of interest.
Cold calling -- pick up the telephone and call businesses that you are interested in. Ask if they have job openings. Try to get the name of the HR manager or recruiter. Follow up your telephone conversation with an application letter.(Tip;do not be intemedated,be confident in your conversation)
Social Media: The social networking platform is a great way to meet a lot of people, sell yourself using them, create a good profile you never know who would be reading them.

A word of advice
Given the state of the current economy, employment advantage is key when competing for jobs inthe marketplace. It is important not to overlook potential networking opportunities. Grab it.

A Lesson from the River

Hi, today I chanced upon a beautiful piece of written by Karyn Greenstreet when surfing the net and I would love to share it with you. The lessons contained within is powerful and would motivate you to appreciate the natural resources of life around because deep within them lies great lessons that would change your life.

A LESSON FROM THE RIVER- by KARYN GREENSTREET.
This summer has been a time of turmoil and change in my life. But as often as I can, I go to the river and sit on a large rock, allowing the sights and sounds and the energy to open my heart and soul to the flow of the Universe. Two days ago, I went to the river with this question in mind: What are the really important lessons in life?
As always, the river provided answers:
  • Walking along the riverbank, I noticed how the extended drought had left the rocks exposed. A week ago, this was a desolate area full of mud and rocks. Today, growing among the rocks, was purple loosestrife, clinging to whatever small bit of soil it could find now that the river had moved away from the banks. The lesson: No matter how bad things are, there is always a little soil you can cling to, and in that soil, you can create life again. Never lose hope.
  • At my feet I found an opened mussel shell, probably the remains of some hungry raccoon’s nightly feast. The outside of the shell was dark brown, covered with dirt and algae, nearly unnoticeable in among the rocks at the riverbank. Yet when I looked inside the shell, the iridescent pinks, mauves and creams made me sigh with wonderment. The lesson: What looks ugly on the outside can have, inside it, a small piece of joy and beauty. Take the time to discover the beauty in all things.
  • I sat on a large, flat rock that overhangs the river where the rapids begin. The wind was blowing warm and fast from the south, bringing with it gray clouds and rain showers. Overhead, several large predatory birds circled and climbed on the winds. At first I thought they were searching for food, but soon it became clear that they were simply enjoying a ride on the wind. The lesson: Be “in the moment” as much as possible, enjoy the simple things that life brings you, and take time to play every day.
  • The wind picked up and I knew rain was coming, but I was loathe to leave this peaceful place. I noticed that there were few insects around; the wind was simply too much for them. However, an industrious bumble bee was attempting multiple landings on the loosestrife, despite how the wind buffeted him away from his target again and again. The lesson: Persevere. Even when the winds of life push you around, always be the best Self you can possibly be.

Faith:Napoleon Hills Secret

Napoleon Hills has become an immortal being, though dead and gone; his name is still chiseled on the hearts of many men. His book Think and Grow Rich, would forever remain an all time inspirational classic for Generation yet unborn.
Today, I am posting on the Second of the 13 Secrets of Napoleon Hills, am not sure if I can post on all the secrets, (because if I do, it will no longer become a secret!)
Napoleon Hill believed Faith is an important ingredient for success. All the things in our life are achieved because man had faith in them. It was by faith that the Wright Brothers built an airplane. It was not possible initially but the desire to go up in the sky and fly like a bird gave them the faith to make human fly up high in the sky.
Faith is having the hope and the desire in the unseen."Faith is," indeed, to quote Christianity's greatest salesman, Paul, "the evidence of things not (yet) seen." Doubt can turn a molehill into a mountain. Faith can move mountains.
If you desire to be successful in life, you need to have faith in whatever you do. It was my desire to work with a human capital development consulting firm after school, though I did not have the necessary background needed for that career path. I believed in the unseen, and had faith that I would work with a particular consulting firm after school. Did my faith work? Yes, my faith made me whole, I am now happily working in that same kind of firm I desired, DevtPlan Consult, and I am adding more value to the company than before.

What do you want to achieve in life?
Do you want to buy a car, or want something that could make your life better than before? Have faith in it, and it shall come to past. So many of the miracles that Jesus did on earth were based on Faith. All the people he healed got healed because they had faith before the physical evidence came. Have faith in your dreams and desire and it would gradually be turning each day into a reality.
 What Next?

Faith is like climbing the a dark star case when you only see the first step. Tell the world you story by dropping me your comment on this post. It would go a long way to inspire others. Feel free to share this article on facebook and other social networking platforms. Thanks a Lot.

Secrets of NAPOLEON HILLS

Have you ever read the book “Think and Grown Rich”?  What do you think about the title? Can man really think and Grow rich? Well, this is what this blog post seeks to answer ,think on the above and let me know your reply.
Obviously, Napoleon Hills’ Think and Grow Rich is the all time inspirational classic for anyone who is daring enough to turn desire into monetary equivalent. I bought my personal copy of Think and Grow Rich in 2007, and I remember a course mate standing close by wondering and saying aloud if it is possible to think and Grow Rich. So, have I grown Rich when I bought the book in 2007?
I don’t think I should answer the question now as this blog post would do just that. May be you are not an avid reader of self help books, I agree because you always doubt what it contains, no wonder you remain bound in your circumstance. This blog post would clear all the doubts if you would read to the end. Well, if your patience is running out just know the seed of greatness is never in one who is not patient.Close the page, and see you in another world! Ahh, you still reading, well today I would want to write and share with you the  Secrets of Napoleon Hills as written in the book Thinks and Grow Rich.

Secret 1; Desire
It is not accidental that Napoleon Hills begins his secret of success with desire. Success always begins with desire, most people want to be successful, however, wanting success is a waste of time.
Worse, it just produces frustration. Only a burning, all-consuming, fervent and passionate desire will produce the exceptional results that make up true success.Wanting and wishing for something is synonymous, most people wish they have a decent house to leave in and a nice car to match their life. They wish and wish till they finally become frustrated. Wishing or wanting never brings a thing into reality, remember, if wishes were horses baggers would ride.
Wanting is best understood by its second meaning in the dictionary: lack.To want for something is to lack something and so long as you merely want success, you will lack success. You must have or develop a burning passion for success. Without it, you are highly unlikely to achieve anything. Get passionate now and take action! This is critical…your desire must be specific. It must be attached to a clear and specific ideal, a clear and consistent thought picture of what
success means to you.
When I was in the university, I wanted to upgrade myself and wished to write an international diploma exam before graduating. Wishing for the diploma never worked till I finally desired it. It was with that passionate and burning need that I have successfully written two international diploma within a year. Now I am fulfilled because I not only wanted it, I desired it and it is now made possible. What do you want in Life? Is it just a Want for it, or you have a burning desire for it?
The Good Book says, ‘what so ever thing you desire, when you pray believe you have received it and you would have it”
So you see, the first key to achievement in life is Desire for the thing not just wanting.
What do you think?
Let me hear from you by dropping me your comments below, and see you in my next post

My GIFT to The WORLD: LOGICAL AND APTITUDE TEST FOR WEEK 1

My GIFT to The WORLD: LOGICAL AND APTITUDE TEST FOR WEEK 1

LOGICAL AND APTITUDE TEST FOR WEEK 1

Hi there, every week for this month of September, I would want us to exercise our brain a little. The brain is like a piece of land and when is not intelligently cultivated, weeds would grown on it. So don’t let your brain be idle. What am I heading towards? For the next four weeks I would be posting an aptitude and logical  test samples and would be glad if you join me, as we exercise our brain muscles by stretching it a little beyond its current level.  Please make sure you try solving it before looking at the solution. Enjoy!
Logical Test for the week.
The difference between a two-digit number and the number obtained by interchanging the positions of its digits is 36. What is the difference between the two digits of that number?
 Solution
The difference between the two digits of that number is 4.
Explanation: In our elementary school mathematics,a two digit number would be in ones or unit, and then the next digit would be in tens. Let the tens’ digit be x and units’ digit be y. So we have a 10x and 1y, interchanging the position of the digits gives you a 10y and 1x. Remember the coefficient of the variables represents the Tens and Ones.
Then, (10x+y)-(10y+x) = 36
Expanding the Bracket; 10x + y – 10y- x = 36
Grouping like terms: (10x- x) + (y -10y)= 36
i.e. 9(x-y) = 36 and that results to x-y = 4.

CONGRATULATION !
What More!
Meet me next week as we try to exercise our brain by solving the logical and aptitude test for week 2.
Feel free to share this on facebook and other social networking sites. I would love to read your comments, so please tell me how you far. And let's keep on Exercising.
